🚀Announcing Our Third Fund to Empower Early-Stage Founders
Throughout our careers in Silicon Valley, Katie and I have been fortunate to work with and be inspired by entrepreneurs, engineers, and operators who have poured their hearts and souls into building innovative products. We love products that make a positive difference in how we live and work, and admire the courage, grit and determination it takes to build them.Â
Our passion for backing early-stage companies started as active angel investors over a decade ago. In 2019, Katie founded Moxxie, a modern venture fund led by operators to help early stage entrepreneurs build meaningful and enduring businesses. In 2021, we teamed up together to raise a second fund and build a team with extensive operating experience, particularly in engineering, product development, and marketing. We have managed nearly every function in organizations ranging from two to two thousand people. This diverse experience enables us to empathize with and provide unique support to founders.
Since launching Moxxie, we have backed over 50 seed stage companies and roughly half have moved on to raise additional capital. We have also been proud to support our founders achieve great milestones such as building the first commercial US Direct Air Capture facility, getting featured in the Time 100 and being invited to the White House. We’ve found our own product-market-fit as generalist seed investors, but with a strong passion for vertical applications of AI, climate-tech, healthcare, future of work and robotics. We back founders with a track record of excellence, who work tirelessly to build and have a deep personal connection to the specific problem they are addressing.
Building on this momentum, we're excited to announce the closing of our $95 million third core fund. Our strategy of investing in software solutions to hard problems remains the same. The partnerships we form, and their sources of capital, are very important to us. We are deeply honored to partner with world class mission-driven institutions including Accolade Partners, Cendana, Children's Health, Churchill Asset Management, Foundry, GEM, The Nature Conservancy, Sapphire Partners and TIFF. We are also proud to share that 50% of our capital has come from female led investing teams and 50% has come from BIPOC led investing teams.
Venture is a hard, serious and rewarding business. We feel an enormous privilege to have the trust and opportunity to build a firm that can find, support and back the world’s best entrepreneurs. If you or someone in your network is building a company you think we should back, we’d love to hear from you.
